What is Discord?

Discord is a free app. You use it to chat with other fans.

Think of Discord as a clubhouse. A clubhouse has different rooms. Each room is for a different chat. You choose which room to go into.

A server is a group

Ours is called KS Live Super Fans.

A channel is a room

Channel names start with #. For example, #meetups.

A moderator is a helper

Moderators keep the chat friendly.

Your number stays private

Nobody can see your phone number.

Get the app

Choose the device you like best. Discord is free. You do not need to pay.

Good to know
Check the app is made by Discord Inc. If you see an offer called Nitro, tap the X. You do not need it.

Make your account

Have your email ready. Take your time.

    Discord may ask for a phone number first. Tap Use email instead. Then type your email address.

    Choose a display name. This is the name people see. It can be anything. Capitals and spaces are fine. For example, Bondi Bev.

    Type a username. It is like an email address. Only one person in the world can have each one. Short names are often taken. Add a word or numbers, like carm_kslive or carm2026. Use small letters. No spaces.

Nobody really sees your username. People see your display name.

    Choose a password. Write it down. Keep it somewhere safe at home.

    Type your date of birth. Discord uses the American order: month first, then day, then year. On a phone you scroll three wheels. Swipe the year wheel fast to get back to your year. Take your time.

Discord only uses this to check you are over 18. Nobody in the server can see it.

    Discord may show a picture puzzle. It checks you are a real person. Tap the pictures it asks for. If it keeps repeating, close the app and open it again. Or try on a computer at discord.com.

    Open your email. Find the email from Discord. Tap Verify Email.

A nickname is perfect. Do not use your full name or phone number.

    Type in the box at the bottom. Tap the arrow to send.

    To reply to someone, hold your finger on their message and tap Reply.
Too many notifications?
Hold your finger on the server name, tap Notification Settings, and choose Only @mentions. You will only be buzzed when someone talks to you directly.

Get into the show chat

Our community is for KS Live members. We may ask you to show you are a member before the show chat opens up for you. It takes one minute.

    Open the KS Live app. Tap More, then Account, then Purchases.
  2. 2
    Take a screenshot of that screen. On an iPhone, press the side button and the volume up button together. On Android, press the power button and volume down together.
  3. 3
    Post the screenshot in #help, or send it to a moderator. They will check it and delete it. Then you are in.
We never ask for your card number
The Purchases screen does not show it, and we would never ask. Only ever send a screenshot of the Purchases screen, nothing else.

Tech Buddies and moderators are volunteers. They will never ask you for money, a password or a card number.

Keep your phone number and address to yourself. Nobody in the server needs them.

If someone is unkind, hold your finger on their message and tap Report, or tell a moderator in #help. You will not be in trouble. Only moderators can remove messages or people. Bullies get one warning, then two strikes and they are out.

Private messages from strangers? You can ignore them. You can also turn them off: tap the server name, tap Privacy Settings, and switch off Direct Messages.

Only join through our link. Copycat servers exist. The real link is always kssuperfans.com/discord.
